Dr. Amar Katranji was born and raised in Southeastern Michigan and received his undergraduate, dental, and periodontal degrees from the University of Michigan. During his specialty training, Dr. Katranji won the prestigious Ramjford Award for Excellence and conducted research focusing on implant surgery. Dr. Katranji is fluent in Arabic. Currently, he is a Clinical Instructor and Adjunct Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine at the U of M School of Dentistry.

Dr. Katranji is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and holds memberships in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the American Academy of Periodontology, and the American and Michigan Dental Associations. Dedicated to research as well as to practice and education, his work has been published in prestigious professional journals. He has done extensive research in areas such as sinus augmentation, advanced bone grafting, and complex dental implant placement. His speaking credits include lecturing on such topics as Root Surface Management, Periodontal Plastic Surgery, Bone Augmentation and Immediate Implant Placement, Gingivitis and Chronic Periodontitis, and Arthritis and Periodontal Disease. Dr. Katranji is also the founder and director of a local implant study group.

During his free time, Dr. Katranji enjoys spending time with his wife, Nour, his newborn son, Becker and his family who live nearby. He frequently plays basketball, soccer, and water sports with his friends.
